Eddie Howe to make canoe debut for Newcastle to Arsenal trip after Covid absence

Howe returned a negative test for the coronavirus on Friday morning and was allowed to watch the game.

It is understood that Howe was cleared to travel under the Covid-19 protocol after his symptoms dated back to last week.

Replacing Howe at his pre-game press conference on Friday, assistant Jason Tindall said: “From my own personal experiences when I had Covid a few months ago, I had no symptoms for start and it was only after about eight nine days that it hit me really hard and I started to struggle.

“But from what Eddie was, I would say Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, compared to how he feels now and the tone of his voice at the end of the week, there has been a big difference.”
