Ed Sheeran says ‘turbulent things’ in his personal life caused social media rift

Ed Sheeran said some “turbulent things” that happened in his personal life forced him to curb his social media presence.
The “Bad Habits” hitmaker made a defiant return to Instagram on Tuesday after two months of radio silence on the platform.
“I realize that I haven’t been as engaged with my social media or my online fan base in the last two years,” the 31-year-old told his 42 million followers.
While it’s not uncommon for the “Perfect” singer to step away from social media from time to time, he admitted there’s more below the surface behind his latest absence from the platform.
“The reason I’m making this video is, to be totally honest, I’ve had some turbulent things in my personal life, so I didn’t really feel like being online and pretending to be something that I’m not when I didn’t feel like that,” Sheeran told fans. “And I know that sounds weird.”
The singer, who will kick off his US tour in May, has been tight-lipped about the challenges he has been forced to face away from the public eye, but said things are finally looking up.
“Weird things are going to start coming out,” he joked, adding that he was finally “back online.”
Sheeran has had a series of notable events in her personal life in recent months, including the birth of her second child.
In May 2022, the singer announced that he and his wife Cherry Seaborn had welcomed their daughter, Jupiter.
“I want to let you know that we had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her and thrilled to be a family of 4x,” he wrote on Instagram at the time.
Their first daughter, Lyra Antarctica, was born in 2020.
Sheeran and Seaborn started dating in 2015, before officially getting married in January 2019. The couple’s romance dates back to high school.
The singer wrote a series of romantic ballads about his future wife, including the hits “Perfect” and “Shape of You.”
In December 2019, Seaborn even starred in her music video for “Put It All On Me.”
