Ecologist Annalena Baerbock, future first head of German diplomacy

The co-chair of the German Greens, Annalena Baerbock, will become the country’s new foreign minister and will thus be the first woman to hold that position, her party announced Thursday night.

The quadragenarian ecologist, candidate of her movement for the chancellorship in the last legislative elections, will assume her functions at the beginning of December within the framework of the governmental coalition formed on Wednesday with the Social Democrats and the Liberals.
