It’s been a good time to be a sports fan in the Delaware Valley area, as the Eagles are flying high, the Philadelphia Phillies have made it to the World Series, and the Philadelphia 76ers look like legitimate NBA championship contenders.
But first, the Eagles will have to put away the 49ers, a team that has looked like a juggernaut in its own right.
The Niners have the best defense in the NFL, as well as plenty of weapons on offense, including wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, tight end George Kittle and running back Christian McCaffrey.
Additionally, rookie quarterback Brock Purdy has taken the league by storm since replacing the injured Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 13.
But the Eagles have sharp beaks and talons, as they have one of the best dual-threat flaggers in Jalen Hurts, who single-handedly scored 13 touchdowns this season.
They also have two 1,000-yard wides in AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, as well as running back Miles Sanders, and their defense is great on its own.
If there’s a concern for Philly, it’s their rushing defense, which ranked 16th in yards allowed and 17th in touchdowns allowed.
This defense will need to stop a Niners offense that likes to run the ball and has great blockers that open things up for its ground weapons.
But Sunday’s contest could be an instant classic, whoever wins.
