Dwayne Haskins’ last celebration of life with family and friends

POTOMAC, Md. — After a homecoming celebration in his native New Jersey and a memorial service in his newest hometown of Pittsburgh, Dwayne Haskins Jr.’s family, friends and fans gathered Sunday night outside Washington, DC, his teenage playgrounds and paid their last respects to the former NFL quarterback.

Two weeks ago, Haskins, 24, died in South Florida after a dump truck hit him in the early morning hours of April 9 as Haskins attempted to cross a highway on foot after ran out of gas. Haskins had spent the days leading up to his death practicing with his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates, hoping to position himself to compete for the starting quarterback position.

A life full of potential snuffed out far too soon. A son, a brother and a friend lost long before their time.
