The police services proceeded, Tuesday, to a net in a case of drug trafficking in Lorient. The starting point of this case would be an attempted murder dating from the end of 2020. That day, men, who came to deliver cocaine, fell into a trap. They are being shot. Judicial information is open. About six months later, the investigation, carried out by the departmental security of Lorient and the judicial police of Rennes, resulted on Tuesday in a series of arrests. In the early morning, the police, provided with a rogatory commission issued by an examining magistrate, deployed in several cities of the West.
In total, nine people were arrested including six in the Lorient region with the help of the Raid. The elite unit of the National Police, specializing in delicate interventions, came as reinforcements from Rennes. An individual was also arrested in Vannes and two others in Vendée by the judicial police.
Cannabis, cocaine and two weapons
During the searches, investigators got hold of a kilogram of cannabis, a few dozen grams of cocaine and 6,000 euros in cash. They also seized two firearms including a 22 long rifle handgun.
Those arrested were taken into custody. They are suspected of having taken part in drug trafficking that fed the region of Lorient. The drugs would have passed through Spain then Île-de-France before arriving in Brittany. As it is an investigation for organized criminals, police custody can last up to 96 hours.
