Drone helps capture 8 migrants near Texas border

Border Patrol agents in the Laredo area used drone technology to help arrest eight migrants trying to find their way into the interior of the United States. Officers apprehended the migrants in southern Laredo, near a busy highway.

Laredo Sector Chief Patrol Officer Matthew Hudak tweeted a drone video showing a group of migrants attempting to cross US Highway 83 in southern Laredo. Officers used the technology to track the migrants as border patrol ground officers moved to apprehend the eight migrants.

The video shows the migrants trying to hide and flee from officers to avoid being arrested and sent back to Mexico.

“The use of state-of-the-art equipment gives officers a unique advantage that allows them to safely perform their duties of protecting our nation’s borders,” Chief Hudak tweeted.

Elsewhere in the area, a concerned citizen reported suspicious activity that led to the arrest of another group of migrants near Highway 44 north of Laredo. The driver of the contraband vehicle crashed into a drainage ditch on a ranch as he tried to flee from officers.

Cotulla Sation agents also disrupted several human trafficking attempts. Smugglers board migrants in vans like rope wood after removing the rear seats, as shown in the photos above.
