Drew McIntyre compares ‘heel’ Jake Paul to young Muhammad Ali, invites YouTuber turned boxer to fight him in WWE

Drew McIntyre appears to be on a collision course with WBC heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury for years now.

The pandemic delayed their initial plans, but with hot rumors that WWE will host a big show in the UK in 2022, it is believed those plans will be resurrected as the main event.

Drew McIntyre and Tyson Fury have kept the buzz going for their possible match for years now

Tyson’s younger brother Tommy is due to face Jake Paul next month.

The YouTuber turned professional boxer has become one of the most polarizing faces in combat sports and McIntyre actually admires what he has done – but I wouldn’t mind giving him a Claymore Kick.

“Jake Paul is everyone’s enemy I guess [laughs]”McIntyre told talkSPORT. He understands. So few people are willing to be real bad guys and charge audiences to watch them get beaten up and he’s a real bad guy.

“Every time I see him show up at these events and the whole crowd starts booing him, I’m like ‘wow, that’s pretty cool.’

“It’s like Muhammad Ali back then. Everyone just remembers the good parts and how awesome he was, but if you remember early in Ali’s career he was playing the heel and taking inspiration from WWE and playing that character, making sure that people hate him so that they pay money to see him get beaten.

“He [Jake] is basically the number one heel in the world, so if he’s going to go through WWE and get Claymored in the face, that’s fine with me!

McIntyre still wants to face Fury in a WWE ring. The heavyweight pivot fought back in 2019 against the now-defunct Braun Strowman and he won his first game.

The Scottish Warrior thinks a crossover match like this on a big UK show would be a huge deal.

Drew McIntyre led the charge for WWE UK broadcasts

“I am still looking for this important pay-per-view in the UK and I will not be silent until this happens. Tyson Fury and I have been going back and forth for a long time.

“If we needed something a little off the beaten track to get people’s attention, especially in the UK with someone of Fury’s stature fighting Drew McIntyre in the Battle of Britain, that would really catch the eye and that’s where I’d like to see this. “
