NBC Sports will be making two major additions to their Football Night in America show this year.
The network announced Monday that Drew Brees and Maria Taylor will join the show leading up to NBC’s Sunday night soccer game.
Brees will be in the Studio 1 office with Mike Tirico and Tony Dungy providing analysis during the show, while Taylor will co-host the show and partner with Chris Simms in Studio 1, according to the release. As part of the move, Rodney Harrison will be heading to the Sunday night soccer field to work with co-host Jac Collinsworth.

This will be the first season Brees won’t suit for soccer games after announcing that the 2020 NFL season will be his last in the league. Brees had already made a deal with NBC to join the team in April 2020, a few months before his retirement.
For Taylor, this will be his first season working primarily on NFL coverage for NBC instead of college football for ESPN. Taylor had been a focal point of ESPN’s College Gameday coverage, but left the network after she was unable to strike a new deal with ESPN. Her outing also followed reports that her fellow ESPN reporter Rachel Nichols made derogatory comments that Taylor hosted coverage of the 2020 NBA Finals because the network lacked diversity.
This will be the last major assignment Taylor has had for NBC. She also hosted NBC’s coverage of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
