How did Stella find her groove? More like, How can we recover Drew Barrymore’s groove? The actress, who has been incredibly open about her lackluster sex life on The Drew Barrymore Show maybe just have to explore some younger options. And thanks to a convincing audience member, we wouldn’t be surprised if Barrymore is the next lucky cradle stealer to nab a member of One Direction — since, of course, Olivia Wilde already has dibs on Harry Styles.
In honor of the ’90s rom-com starring Taye Diggs, Hulu has ordered a new reality dating series, Back in the Groove. The show will be hosted by the actor as it follows three single women in their 40s as they travel to the Dominican Republic to “find love with men who are half their age”, per Variety.
Barrymore, who is 47, told viewers her pace was “not so groovy” and that she was initially put off by the idea of dating a man much younger than her. In fact, she even looked to her audience to see if anyone would. When a brave soul clapped, the actress asked, “Why would you date someone half your age? And I don’t say that critically and it sounded like that but that’s not how I meant it. But why?”
The woman noted, “Because I feel younger and I need someone who can keep up with me.”
Barrymore, who obviously didn’t need much convincing, told the happy viewer that she had just changed her mind.
“I’m young at heart too when I get off the couch. I’m a hoot,’ she said. “Well, you changed my attitude. I think you could hear it in my voice with quite a bit of opinion and I just backed off because you’re right. Thank you.”
The Drew Barrymore Show airs weekdays at 9:30 a.m. ET on CBS.
