Dream wedding ruined after dozens of guests fall ill

Authorities are investigating after dozens of guests fell ill after attending a wedding in Melbourne, Australia, on Saturday evening.

The suspected gastroenteritis outbreak occurred after a wedding at The Park in Albert Park, where around 300 people were believed to have attended.

Following the couple’s happy day, some of their guests experienced fevers, nausea and vomiting.

The Victorian Department of Health is currently investigating the suspected gastrointestinal outbreak.

“The department is aware of an outbreak of gastroenteritis involving guests who visited a visitor center in Albert Park on Saturday,” a spokesperson said.

“We are working with Port Phillip Council to investigate the source of the outbreak and ensure all appropriate infection prevention and control measures are in place.”

The venue is working with authorities to determine the cause of the outbreak.

“We are working closely with event guests and the council to determine the cause of the outbreak,” The Park told the Herald Sun in a statement.

The illness suffered by wedding guests is not believed to be linked to the current listeria outbreak in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, Australia.
