23 dead in metro accident in Mexico City

At least 23 people were killed during the night from Monday to Tuesday, and dozens more injured, after the collapse of a Mexico City skytrain bridge that sent a train into the void. The accident happened around 10 p.m. local time (5 a.m. French time) on metro line 12 which crosses the south of the capital. Dozens of firefighters and rescuers were active in clearing the injured and the bodies of passengers imprisoned in a pile of metal, rubble, cables and deformed rails. Others worked to keep curious people away because of the risk of other sections of the apparently weakened structure collapsing. [Plus d’infos]
