Dr Oz has the weirdest explanation why no one is donating to his campaign

Dr Mehmet Oz, a Republican candidate for the US Senate in his adopted state of Pennsylvania, admits his campaign has struggled to raise funds and he says it’s because Democrats are ‘smart’ while Republicans mow their lawns.

Oz spoke to Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Monday, who pointed to the wide disparity in fundraising between him and his opponent, Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman.

“The Democrats very smartly took all of these issues that came up this summer – the Dodd decision, the gun concerns – and used them as excuses to raise money from Democratic loyalists. Interestingly, when Republicans get mad, we go out and mow the lawn, Democrats, when they get mad, give their party money.

Afterwards, Oz urged everyone to donate to him while claiming that he didn’t need a lot of money anyway because he was the best candidate:

Fetterman trolled Oz about living in New Jersey until very recently — even voting in the Garden State in 2020, per Politico. He also portrayed Oz as a wealthy celebrity who is out of touch with regular Pennsylvanians, with a video showing many of the mansions that Oz owns around the world.

But Oz told Ingraham he was the true populist of the race.

“He’s not a real populist, he’s a fake populist,” Oz said. “I’ve spent my whole life, you know, working. My parents were immigrants, understanding the importance of dedicating my life to service. As a cardiac surgeon, I invented devices. As you know, I have been very active in many efforts to make America a healthier and better place.
