Several local businesses are mobilizing to try to contribute to relief efforts in Ukraine. One such company, Door County Candle Company in Wisconsin, has created its own Ukrainian candle.
The company donates 100% of profits to Ranzom for Ukraine, a non-profit organization that helps Ukrainians in need.
Christiana Trapani, owner of Door County Candle, spoke to NBC 5 Chicago about how she and many Ukrainian Americans likely felt after seeing their home country invaded by Russia.
“I got so angry and helpless, and I was like ‘we have to do something,'” Trapani said.
Trapani put a lot of love into creating the handcrafted Ukrainian candle, which sells for just under $30 and has raised thousands of dollars in just days.
“In two days our fundraiser was so successful, it shows that there are so many good people out there and they want to help and they want to do something,” Tripani said.
Door County Candle Company has sold over 5,000 candles so far and says they are overwhelmed with the gratitude and response they have received.
