Djed Spence ‘has been given the green light’ to pursue a loan spell away from Tottenham as four Premier League clubs and a German side are linked with the wing-back

Tottenham gave Djed Spence the ‘green light’ to be loaned out in January, with the winger struggling for playing time under Antonio Conte.

Spence joined Tottenham over the summer after impressing while on loan at Nottingham Forest in the Championship last season, helping them win promotion to the Premier League.

However, his time at Spurs didn’t go to plan after being out of Conte’s side for much of his time there, making just six appearances for them in the first half of the season.

As a result, he has been frustrated with a lack of opportunities which has hampered his progress in the game and is looking to step away to get more playing time, according to Football.London.

Tottenham’s current options at right-back are Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty, and talkSPORT understands they are in advanced talks to sign Sporting Lisbon full-back Pedro Porro this month as well.

The Football.London report adds that there has been interest from Premier League sides Leicester, Southampton, Crystal Palace and Brentford in Spence, while German club Bayer Leverkusen are also keeping tabs on him.

The 22-year-old would ideally want to be somewhere where he can get regular playing time to show off his best qualities and perhaps make his way into the Tottenham first team when he returns.

After Spence’s signing was announced, Conte revealed that it was a decision made by the club.
