New twist in the Aurélie Vaquier case, this 38-year-old woman, missing since February 23. His companion was taken into custody on Wednesday after the discovery of a corpse under a concrete slab of the marital home, located in Bédarieux (Hérault), announced the prosecutor of Béziers.
“The criminal investigation technicians of the Montpellier gendarmerie group are currently carrying out the meticulous extraction of the body which is not yet formally identified,” said Raphaël Balland in a press release.
The corpse was discovered “hidden under a concrete slab” thanks in particular to a “search dog” and a “ground penetrating radar allowing the sounding of floors and partitions”, added Mr. Balland, specifying that a forensic pathologist had to go to the scene.
The companion still resided at home
On Wednesday, at 5 p.m., around twenty members of the gendarmerie and scientific police were still busy on the scene, in the center of Bédarieux, about thirty kilometers north of Béziers.
The 39-year-old partner of the 38-year-old woman still resided at the couple’s home. He had reported the disappearance of his companion on February 23 to the Bédarieux gendarmerie, more than three weeks later. On January 28, the latter would have, according to the statements of her companion, left the marital home, without any means of payment or locomotion, with only her mobile phone and some clothes, the magistrate had declared in a previous press release. A judicial investigation was opened on March 1 by the Béziers prosecutor’s office for “kidnapping and kidnapping” and is now continuing for acts of murder. His relatives never believed in a voluntary departure.
