Liverpool star Diogo Jota has already been named the Premier League’s best centre-forward by former England winger Trevor Sinclair.
And now the Portuguese striker has been recognized for his stunning form with his own song from the Anfield faithful.
Jota scored his 14th Premier League goal of the season to give Liverpool the lead against Watford as they bid to return to the top of the Premier League.
He continues a fine season for the 25-year-old, having officially usurped Roberto Firmino in Jurgen Klopp’s famous top three alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
And now Jota has joined the original trio in commissioning his own melody from Liverpool supporters playing at Anfield.
But how is the song? Well, the lyrics are:
“Oh, he wears number 20,
“He will lead us to victory,
“And when he runs on the left wing,
“He will cut inside and score for LFC.
“He’s a guy from Portugal,
“Better than Figo don’t you know,
“Oh, his name is Diogo!
Only Salah has more goals than Jota in the Premier League this season, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku considerably below the former Wolves striker.
Even Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo has slowed down in recent weeks – and Sinclair believes Jota is the pick of the bunch right now.
“I think he’s the best,” the former Man City and West Ham player told talkSPORT Breakfast.
“Kane isn’t quite there, Lukaku isn’t shooting. I think Jota is the best centre-forward in the league.
“It’s unfortunate to have come into a Liverpool side where the top three have their positions set in stone.
“Since leaving Wolves for Liverpool he has improved his game.”
