After half an hour of play, Dalot fell and United’s medical team spent a considerable number of minutes trying to cure him.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka looked set to replace him, but his teammate’s warrior spirit saw him play, despite the bone being visible in the cut.

“Thanks for the messages. Everything is fine now with the help of the Doctor, “he tweeted after the game.” See you next “, jokingly the image of his ankle is good for those who like to study human anatomy!

A goal from Scott McTominay in the first half helped Man United in the fourth round, who were to thank VAR for helping them overtake Steven Gerrard’s side.

The game also saw other heartbreaking incidents as Villa center-back Ezri Konsa needed treatment after being bloodied by Luke Shaw in the later stages of the game.

After receiving the necessary treatment, the 22-year-old got up and resumed play without needing further medical attention.

Since the appointment of Ralf Rangnick as manager, Dalot has benefited greatly from his arrival, having had the opportunity to impress at right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

He started three times in the Premier League under former RB Leipzig boss and has yet to taste defeat so far.
