Dillian Whyte posted a scathing response to Tyson Fury after the WBC heavyweight champion shared return photos of the pair together.
Fury is expected to be ordered to face Whyte in a homecoming title defense, having not fought in the UK for almost four years.
Having been ranked by the WBC as the top contender for almost as long, “The Bodysnatcher” is eager to get their hands on Fury, although the decision has been delayed due to ongoing refereeing issues.
“The Gypsy King” uploaded several photos of the couple together from their days as training partners, saying “Funny how people treat you when you’re nice to them, the worlds have gone crazy.”
The interim WBC champion did not welcome the message and immediately hit back.
He wrote on Instagram: “Shut up the fucking [and] sign the contract so I can break your teeth, stop b *******. “
Fury promoter Frank Warren has urged Whyte to drop his scholarship applications in order to lead the fight, a compromise the legendary promoter hopes he can make.
Warren told talkSPORT: “I think Whyte is fighting for the division of the stock market and I don’t think he has anywhere to go with that. Facts are facts and he deposited his last scholarship for £ 300,000.
“Tyson is in charge. He’s the champion, he fought to get there, he didn’t have easy fights.
“He could have done that against Anthony Joshua, but he turned down four or five million dollars to fight Joshua.
“I look at this and I say, ‘Where is your ambition? Why are you in there? ‘ “
He added: “What the WBC said was, let him go to arbitration, let the referees decide whether he has a case or not. If he has, they will respect it.
“They said the split, which we can’t quite get right now, would be either 85/15 in favor of Tyson or 80/20.
“And that’s because of the handbags that were submitted, in his last fight, Whyte said he was awarded £ 300,000.”
