Diane Kruger is opening up about an “uncomfortable” time she had early on in Hollywood.
On Monday, the actress revealed that she “definitely met the Weinsteins of this world from the start” during a chat at Variety studio SXSW. The former model was on hand for the premiere screening and panel surrounding her new film, “Swimming with Sharks.”
During her session, the star reflected on her 2004 film “Troy” where she played Helen of Troy opposite Brad Pitt. According to the 45-year-old, she had to “go to the studio head in costume” to test out the role. Kruger did not specify the senior executive behind the Warner Bros. exit. in question.
“And I felt like meat, being looked at up and down and being asked, ‘Why do you think you should play this? ‘” Kruger alleged.

Several industry insiders told the outlet that it’s “not very common” for a star to have to show up in costume for an interview in an executive’s office. Screen tests are filmed and then reviewed by studio management and producers for review.
A spokesperson for Warner Bros. Pictures did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
“I’ve been put in such inappropriate and uncomfortable situations,” Kruger told the outlet. “I think when I started I felt like that was it. That’s how Hollywood is. Also, I come from modeling and believe me, they have their moments. “

Kruger shared that for her latest thriller, she had to film a scene in which her character is sexually exploited.
“Shooting that scene was just a reminder of how disgusting and acceptable bad behavior was at a certain time in our society, not just in Hollywood,” Kruger explained.

“What really drew me to this part is that it’s the Hollywood of 2022,” she continued. “So women have careers, they put their family or their desires on hold. What does it mean once you’re in a position of power? power, really intrigued me.”
“Swimming with Sharks” will be released on April 15 on the Roku channel.
