DeSantis campaign slams Governor Hochul for using the Holocaust to ‘launch cheap attacks’ on DeSantis

The DeSantis campaign fired back on Thursday after New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) used a Holocaust education event to “launch cheap attacks” on Governor Ron DeSantis (R).

Hochul made the inappropriate remark Wednesday during a signing event.

โ€œI just want to say to the 1.77 million Jews who live in New York: thank you for calling New York home. Do not go anywhere or in another state. Florida is overrated. I shouldn’t say this, but look at the governor. It starts from the top down,โ€ she said at the event.

“Getting in trouble – gotta stay on script,” she added before introducing Holocaust survivor Celia Kener, prompting a backlash on social media:

“A Holocaust education event is not the time to launch cheap attacks on a fellow governor,” DeSantis campaign spokeswoman Lindsey Curnutte said in a statement.

โ€œKathy Hochul’s tasteless comments were offensive to thousands of Jews fleeing her state because of New York’s oppressive taxes, shuttered businesses, crime-ridden cities and unnecessary warrants,โ€ she added.

Hochul is not the first far-left Democratic governor to target DeSantis. California Governor Gavin Newsom (D), whose state is experiencing a mass exodus, continued to target DeSantis and other “freedom-loving” governors across the country with bizarre attacks.
