Dermatologist arrested after husband says he poisoned him

Irvine police have arrested a dermatologist for allegedly poisoning her husband, who they say has turned over “video evidence to support” his suspicions that his wife was responsible for his illness.

Yue Yu’s husband reported that he had been ill for a month and shared his suspicions and evidence with the police on the day of his arrest.

Police questioned the doctor Thursday night and served a search warrant at the couple’s home in Irvine before locking him up in the Orange County Jail.

Her husband “suffered significant internal injuries but is expected to recover,” police said.

Yu appears to be a dermatology specialist with an office in Mission Viejo. She is affiliated with Providence Mission Hospital, which issued a statement to news organizations saying they were aware of the arrest and were cooperating with police.

“This incident is a domestic matter that occurred in Irvine, and we want to reassure our community that there was no impact on our patients,” the hospital said. On Sunday, his biography appeared to have been removed from hospital websites.

Yu’s bail was set at $30,000. She posted bond and was released Friday evening, according to information from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

No other details about the allegations against Yu or the police investigation were available Sunday.
