Democrats ready to ‘resort to destroying the Senate’ to pass election law

During an appearance on Fox Business Network on Friday, Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) slammed his fellow Senate Democrats for the lengths they are willing to go to pass their so-called Election Rights Act. vote.

The Tennessee lawmaker also pointed to the double standard by which Democratic leaders rule the U.S. Senate, noting how a Nord Stream 2 pipeline bill was stalled by an up or down vote on the floor.

“I was on the Senate floor yesterday when Kyrsten Sinema made his statement,” he said. “She said what she said. Joe Manchin said the same thing. They’re not going to destroy the Senate. They’re not going to vote to take away the 60-vote minimum to pass the law. In fact, they invoked that. last night when they blocked our Nord Stream 2 legislation which would have actually put America in a position of strength against Russia. Democrats are happy to use it on many other things that Republicans would like to see, for example, to strengthen us against Russia.

“But, when it comes to their abject takeover of our election laws, they are prepared to call us any name on the book and resort to the destruction of the Senate to do so,” Hagerty added. “I commend Senator Sinema and Manchin for standing up to this, and I don’t think Joe Biden calls that up again and again. He will get a different result. Every Republican in the United States Senate is against it, and they can’t get unity from the Democrats either.
