Democrats ‘guaranteed’ the non-wealthy will see a tax hike and voted against preventing it

While airing Fox News Channel’s “America Reports” on Friday, House Minority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) reacted to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) saying that increased enforcement of IRS in Cut Inflation Act Will Result in People Making Less Than $400,000 Paying $20 Billion in New Taxes Pointing Out Senate Democrats Rejected Amendment Seeking to Prevent Increase in Audits of people earning less than $400,000 because it is “their intention” to raise taxes on those earning less than $400,000.

Scalis said:[J]Look what CBO has said so far. They did not assess the entire bill. They said this army of 87,000 new IRS agents, more than twice the size of the IRS, would go after people earning less than $400,000. It would break President Biden’s promise. They said, by the way, that low-income families will pay $20 billion in new taxes just to IRS agents.

He added, “There was an amendment to make sure it wouldn’t apply to people earning less than $400,000, and all Senate Democrats voted against it, so the amendment was defeated. So clearly their intention is not the millionaires and billionaires. Their intention is this army of 87,000 men. Think of an NFL stadium, any NFL stadium in America, completely filled with new IRS agents going after people earning less than $400,000, in violation of the president’s promise Biden. It’s guaranteed. We know it will happen. CBO confirmed it today.
