Democratic donor Harry Wilson asks Republican voters what they think of a candidate who did not vote for Trump in 2020 as he considers a run for governor of New York as a Republican.
Wilson, a former two-time Obama appointee, confirmed he was considering running for New York governor on his personal Facebook page. Wilson wrote:
I never post anything political on my personal FB page, but it is as personal as it is political. As reported in the NY Post and Times Union (links below), I am considering entering the gubernatorial race due to New York’s decline at the hands of career politicians.
However, Wilson’s post did not reveal that he had hired a pollster to determine Republican voters’ reaction to a candidate who did not vote for Trump in 2020. A county GOP chairman who responded to the survey spoke to Breitbart News about the poll.
“He asked if a candidate who did not vote for Donald Trump, could you elect him. I can’t say they said it directly, but it was all in that series – it was really a push poll,” the county chairman said. “That’s why Mr. Wilson, everything he says he found in this poll is suspect because there was all this glowing data and information about Harry Wilson.”
The county’s GOP chairman was confused because Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) is the presumptive Republican candidate for governor.
“I sat down and talked to him. By telephone. She immediately asked me if I would vote in the primary for governor. It kind of caught my eye, it wasn’t intended for there to be such a thing,” the county chairman said.
“Absolutely, he came to my county three times, and there was a poll we did last spring – it was Zeldin. I have a Zeldin sign on my lawn and at the Republican headquarters. Absolutely,” the county chairman said of the presumptive Republican gubernatorial nominee.
The GOP chairman also pointed out that the pollster was unfamiliar with the pronunciation of local names. “What jumped out at me at first was that the girl who took the survey didn’t know how to pronounce Albany and she had issues with Astorino and she couldn’t even say Zeldin properly,” said President.
A poll question also alluded to Wilson’s time with former President Barack Obama’s Auto Task Force. “The first question and she was sort of huddled at the start, she was talking about the Obama administration negotiating a labor deal with General Motors and what did I think of that,” the president said.
A Republican legislator in the New York State Assembly confirmed that the poll was about a potential candidate who did not support Trump in 2020. “I received a text that was then linked to the online poll,” said the lawmaker told Breitbart News. “I asked if it would impact my view of him if he wrote in Nikki Haley because he liked President Trump’s policies but not his tweets.”
Wilson donated to Soros-linked DA Alvin Bragg, despite his promises to investigate former President Donald Trump.
Wilson also donated thousands of dollars to Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), who played a leading role in former President Trump’s first impeachment. Wilson even donated to President Joe Biden’s Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, during her campaign for governor of Rhode Island.
As Wilson asks voters about not voting for Trump, he has hired Jamestown Associates, the same political advertising company Trump used, to help him with his potential campaign, according to people familiar with the matter.
Jamestown Associates executive Barney Keller did not respond to repeated requests this week for comment on the matter, including details of Wilson’s investigation or investigations.
