New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) has put crime on a “hyper blast” thanks to leftist measures like little or no bail for criminal suspects, Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Ronchetti has said.
During an exclusive interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart Daily NewsRonchetti lambasted Grisham for what he describes as a mix of lax immigration enforcement and a far-left no-bail agenda that has resulted in a catch-and-release policy for felons in New Mexico. .
“New Mexico is the forgotten border state for precisely this reason… [Grisham is] soft on the border and we are also a sanctuary state, combined with Catch and Release,” Ronchetti said, citing the case of illegal alien Joel Arciniega-Saenz charged with the murder of 51-year-old James Garcia in Dona County. Ana, New Mexico. , the day after Father’s Day.
“Breitbart covered it about a year ago, the story of Joel Saenz who was basically charged with murder and then he got out because they dropped the murder charges and then was charged with four felonies in fourth degree,” Ronchetti said.

“Then they basically let him out on cashless bail and he committed a murder where he actually approached a homeless man, assaulted him and eventually ended up chopping his head off and playing football with his head in a Las Cruces park,” he continued.
“He was here illegally and that’s the kind of thing that happens over and over again in New Mexico, which is people committing these violent crimes, going to jail for a good chunk of a few days, at most, then return them. right away,” Ronchetti said.
Ronchetti also noted the case of Jacqueline Vigil, a 55-year-old wife and mother of two, who was leaving her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 2019 when Luis Talamantes, an illegal alien deported three times, allegedly murdered in the driveway. .
“This is one of those situations where another violent crime is happening here,” Ronchetti said, blaming the state’s sanctuary policy that protects criminal illegal aliens from arrest and deportation.
“The number of murders in Albequerque has almost quadrupled,” Ronchetti said.
“What is that [Grisham’s] Solution? His solution was to step in and remove qualified immunity for the police…what did that do? It pretty much stopped all police recruiting in the state of New Mexico…which effectively brought the whole thing to a boil,” he continued.
The New Mexico GOP gubernatorial primary election is scheduled for June 7.
