Fan voting for the NBA All-Star Game is in full swing and Chicago Bulls’ DeMar DeRozan has received some good news.

DeRozan still tops the list of Eastern Conference guards, with a total of 2,973,854 votes — more than a million votes over runner-up Trae Young.

We shouldn’t be surprised by DeRozan’s impressive standing, he had one of the best seasons of his career and rose to the top of the league.

Not only is he the Bulls’ most valuable player, he’s up for the most valuable player in the entire NBA — and fans are taking notice.

MVP season

So far this season, DeRozan is averaging 26 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

And thanks to DeRozan and the help of a great team, the Bulls are now the number one team in the East with a 27-12 record.

They are number one ahead of the Brooklyn Nets and champion Milwaukee Bucks.

Even just a few months ago, no one would have predicted the Bulls would do so well and few expected DeRozan to be so amazing.

It’s important to remember that when DeRozan went to the Bulls, a lot of people thought he was cleansed and the best of his career was behind him.

His stint with the Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs was never as successful as fans had hoped and it wasn’t talked about the way people talk about LeBron James, Stephen Curry or Kevin Durant.

But people certainly talk about him that way now.

The fact that DeRozan has risen through the ranks so high after countdown seasons is why so many fans love him.

Not only does he do such a spectacular job, but he also does it when he was struck off.

In many ways, this season is about an underdog who returns to impress everyone and prove the haters wrong – who doesn’t get fired up about that?

Can the bulls go all the way?

The question now is how does this wonderful season end for DeRozan and his Bulls?

Do they make it to the final or are they sputtering in the playoffs?

Aside from the Nets and Bucks, if you were to talk about almost every other team in the East, the odds of them making it to the Finals might seem like a stretch.

But Chicago has the coach, the players and the experience to go all the way.

It’s not a team full of newcomers to the league – a lot of those guys have been working hard for years now.

Plus, they have a supreme team leader in DeRozan, a guy who’s ready to show the world that this season is no fluke.

There’s a very good chance the Bulls can get past the Nets and Bucks and make it all the way to the NBA Finals.

If so, it will be more proof that DeRozan deserves all the fan love he receives.
