Deepak Chahar slightly ahead of Bhuvneshwar Kumar based on performance, says Irfan Pathan

Former Indian fast bowler Irfan Pathan has shared his thoughts on who he thinks has the advantage when it comes to being selected in the squad. Irfan Pathan thinks that if recent performances are taken into account, then Deepak Chahar is ahead of Bhuvneshwar Kumar as he has done a bit better recently.

India have had a dominant run in the T20I format since Rohit Sharma took over as skipper. The Men in Blue haven’t lost a match in their last two series against Sri Lanka and West Indies. The team performed brilliantly even in the absence of key players like Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, Rishab Panting and Ravindra Jadeja. India’s bench strength was tested and every player who had an opportunity passed with flying colors.

Team India’s bowling department was particularly good as they did well in pressure situations and even gave away wickets at the start of opposition innings consistently. Indian fast bowlers Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been a big reason for the team’s success in the past two series.

While the two bowlers are similar in their style, yet they are the former Indian point guard Irfan Pathan believes that Deepak Chahar has the advantage over senior pacemaker Bhuvneshwar Kumar when it comes to being selected in the squad.

In a chat with Star Sports, Irfan Pathan said: “Based on their recent performances, I think Deepak Chahar is slightly ahead. Yes, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has done well in the last few games, but in stick-wise, Chahar has improved a lot. Based on that, I think he is ahead of Bhuvi”.

Deepak Chahar is out of action as of now after picking up the injury in the third T20I against West Indies last month.
