DECATUR, Alabama – The Decatur Police Department (DPD) said a man was arrested and charged with murder following a recent investigation.

Jamari Demone Jones, 31, of Decatur, was arrested on Monday morning.

DPD agents responded to a fire call on Sunday evening at around 9:15 p.m. in Block 300 of Monroe Drive Northwest.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found Jamaal Jackson, 41, of Decatur, apparently with gunshot wounds. Jackson died at the scene.

Jones was developed as a suspect during the investigation.

After his arrest, Jones was taken to Morgan County Correctional Facility in lieu of a $ 75,000 bond set by Circuit Judge Stephen Brown.
