Who is David Prutton for winning the Sky Bet Championship on the final day of the season? Find out here…
Two out of four for the play-offs… who will come out on top?
It’s been a season in the Sky Bet Championship. The title is won, Bournemouth will also join Fulham in the Premier League, and the relegation places are decided, but there is still, still something to excite on the last day, and we still have a day of drama to come.
Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield have booked their play-off places but two remain to be secured as Sheffield United, Luton, Middlesbrough and Millwall jostle for position.
Sheffield United are in pole position, occupying fifth place and their own fate is entirely in their hands. Facing champions Fulham is a daunting prospect, and their demolition of Luton on Monday night to seal the title showed they are not quite on the beach yet.
I worry about Luton. They have all sorts of injury problems to worry about, and their goal difference has taken a real hit at Craven Cottage. They do, however, have a pretty nice home game against Reading.
Middlesbrough will be hoping both sides get it wrong when they visit Preston, and Millwall will have been happy to see Bournemouth cross the line in midweek, as it’s a far less daunting trip down the south coast than it looks would have been if the Cherries needed a result.
There will be all kinds of twists and turns throughout the afternoon, I’m sure. But looking at the fixtures and the table, I feel like it might just be like you were at the final whistle. I want all four teams to win, but it won’t be good for Middlesbrough and Millwall.
