Isaiah Lee, 24, faces one count of attempted murder, the district attorney’s office announced Thursday.

Lee is accused of stabbing his roommate on Dec. 2, 2021 during a fight at a transitional apartment, officials said.

Earlier this month, the district attorney’s office referred a misdemeanor assault case involving Lee to the LA City attorney’s office for the onstage incident involving Chappelle at the Hollywood Bowl.

“The publicity generated by the attack on Mr. Chappelle helped police solve this crime,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement Thursday. “The incident that occurred at the Hollywood Bowl was tortious conduct and was rightfully referred to the City Attorney’s Office. Given the nature and severity of the December attack, Mr. Lee now faces felony charges which my office will pursue.”

Lee has pleaded not guilty to the charge and is due back in court on June 2.
