Darren Till clearly has Khamzat Chimaev’s back, as he clashed with Kevin Holland following an altercation with his mate.
It all started on Thursday night before the UFC 279 press conference, which then had to be canceled after several fighter-to-fighter melee broke out backstage.
The incident started between lightweight Chimaev, who is fighting in the main event against Nate Diaz, and Holland, who is competing in an undercard wrestling match against Daniel Rodriguez.
Chimaev allegedly kicked Holland, which led to a mass brawl between the two men’s teams.
The American, however, denies this and says it started when he asked his rival if he wanted a beard trim.
It was also reported that another altercation started soon after between Chimaev’s team and Diaz’s team, with both parties throwing water bottles at each other.
Footage later emerged of Chimaev’s friend, middleweight Till, taking on Holland in support of his teammate, but while heated, it never got beyond words.
UFC President Dana White blamed the chaos on a lack of security, as he said: “When you know you have guys who don’t like each other, you make sure they are isolated, you have plenty of security around.

“You know how Nate and Khamzat are, they could have a few words and we have enough people here to take care of that.
“What we didn’t have enough people for was everyone starting to fight. When everyone started fighting and there was more than fighting going on, security took care of it. We weren’t prepared.
“For 22 years, as long as I’ve done this, we’ve never had an incident like today,” White continued, “All hell broke loose here. We stopped it, but we did not do well not to let it happen.
“I don’t know what happened here. This has never happened before. We will be ready for next time. … It was crazy. It was completely crazy here.
White also revealed that Saturday night’s card would not be affected as no one was injured.
