LOS ANGELES– “Dancing with the Stars” kicked off a two-night event in the competition. For the first round, the stars were seen dancing to the theme of their “most memorable year”.
The remaining 12 couples performed emotional routines that represented the most defining years of their lives.
Eleven couples danced and brought tears to the eyes of the judges, the audience and each other. The 12th couple to take the stage arrived in the ballroom with a stunning announcement: actress Selma Blair and Sasha Farber have left the competition due to health issues.
“I wish I could stay and learn,” Blair said.
The actress, who is battling multiple sclerosis, had a consultation with her doctors where they discovered minor injuries. Blair said she didn’t want them to get anything more serious.
The “DWTS” judges let Blair know how much his presence meant to them.
“This competition is tough for everyone, but if others are going up hills, you are going up mountains,” said chief judge Len Goodman.
“You’ve brought nothing but joy to everyone,” said Derek Hough. “Thank you for sharing the journey with us.”
“You have inspired millions of people,” said Bruno Tonioli. “Your star has never shone so brightly.”
“Watching you every week has been a living, breathing dance miracle,” Carrie Ann Inaba said. “You are a blessing and a gift.”
Since Blair and Farber pulled out of the competition, there has been no elimination of the judge’s scores and viewer votes. The votes from this round will be added to the totals for Tuesday night, where we will see an elimination.
Leading the judges’ standings after Monday’s round is Charli D’Amelio with 39 of 40 points. Wayne Brady is in second place, with 37 of 40.
There is a tie for third place between Gabby Windey and Heidi D’Amelio with 36 of 40. In contrast, Jessie James Decker brought up the rear with 29 of 40.
Tuesday’s theme is “Prom Night”.
Disney is the parent company of this resort.
