“The Daily Show” tweeted a still gleaming comic gold piece on Wednesday about Olympic legend “Eric the Eel.” (Watch it below.)
Eric l’Anguille aka Eric Moussambani is a real guy who competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and achieved the slowest 100m freestyle in Olympic history.
“The Daily Show” featured its story in 2016 with Roy Wood Jr. portraying the unlikely hero. The skit caused a stir on social media and is back just in time for the start of the Tokyo Olympics this week.
Note that some details of the parody are true, but we seriously doubt he told reporters, “Bitch, I’m tired” after the race.
Hey, an actor must have his creative license.
