The Colombian climber has just swept away the rumors of retirement. During a press conference “Nairoman” announced that he intended to continue his professional career.
Monday, January 23, the Colombian media agreed that Nairo Quintana was going to announce his retirement from sport at a press conference scheduled for Wednesday. Finally, the 32-year-old climber does not intend to put his bike away.

In front of the microphones, “Nairoman” was very clear about the rest of his career: “I want to tell you that I am in good shape to continue. I am not giving up and I am moving forward. always up and i kept on pedaling, struggle and sacrifice are the paths i know in life i will keep fighting to compete and ride the bike for as long as my body and mind can withstand i am an honest runner.”

While his adventure with Arkéa-Samsic ended last autumn because of a double positive control for tramadol which had earned him a disqualification from the last Tour de France, Nairo Quintana intends to start again and find a new team.

The next few weeks will be decisive for the Colombian and his search for a contract: “I want to continue running, putting on a bib and putting myself at the service of a team. I will be traveling to Europe in the next few weeks since I still have contacts with several teams. I have the ambition not to stop there.” It remains to be seen if a team from the peloton will be tempted by Nairo Quintana.
