Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze steps up injury comeback with Under-23 appearance

The midfielder suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury in the final week of last season but returned earlier than expected.

Before doing that, Eze will play for the club’s academy when they host the Blackburn Rovers at 1 p.m. this afternoon.

Initially, there were concerns that Eze’s injury could keep him from entering into the New Year, but the former Queens Park Rangers man has exceeded expectations for his recovery and is relishing a comeback.

“The day I return is going to be beautiful for me,” Eze said in a recent interview.

“A great experience going out with the fans. I’ve never known all the fans before. It’s going to be like my debut again. Unbelievable.

“I just love watching the team right now because they are playing so well and doing exactly what I would have hoped for on this team. It’s great watching that and seeing that I have can’t wait to come back and join them.

Eze was due to be named to England’s provisional squad for Euro 2020 and loves playing in Patrick Vieira’s new look, the Palace squad, who continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-0 win over the Champions of Premier League Manchester City on Saturday.
