Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira “definitely has what it takes to be successful” in the Premier League, says former West Ham and Southampton ace Jose Fonte

Prior to joining Palace, Vieira had been the head coach of the French team at OGC Nice and achieved impressive seventh and sixth places in his first two seasons.

Former Southampton star Jose Fonte, now Lille captain, faced Vieira’s side four times in Ligue 1 before being sacked last December, drawing two draws, losing once and winning once.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he was asked what Palace fans can expect from their new manager.

He told White and Jordan: “At Nice he did a good job in the first few seasons, of course we all know how amazing he was as a player, but as a manager he was seen like someone of quality.

“I can’t wait to see what he can bring to Crystal Palace.

“I’m looking forward to what he can bring to the Premier League and to this team and it will be interesting to see what he can do, I think he definitely has what it takes to be successful.”

While Vieira’s last season at Nice didn’t end as he would have liked, he has certainly shown what he is capable of in his first two seasons.

With Zaha, who scored in their friendly 1-0 pre-season win over Walsall this weekend, still at the club and the arrivals of Marc Guehi and Michael Olise from Chelsea and Reading respectively, the season promises to be intriguing for Palace. Fans.
