MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Crews continued to search Tuesday for a boy who went missing Monday in the Mississippi River near St. Paul.
The research is centered at Hidden Falls Regional Park, just north of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Relatives identified the child as 12-year-old Ashok Pradhan from Saint-Paul. They say he was playing with his father and sister in the water late Monday afternoon when the current of the river washed him away. The family say the boy cannot swim.
On Tuesday, rescue teams from Hennepin, Dakota and Ramsey counties spent the morning searching the river. The teams also worked late at night on Monday.
Ashok is the youngest of six siblings. His older brother, Arjun, has arrived from Richmond, Virginia to support his family as the search continues.
“We miss our brother very much,” said Arjun. “However, I have hope that the Lord will be able to restore it to us. ”
Research will continue on Wednesday morning.
