Covid-19: a year after the death in retirement homes, Canada takes stock

In Canada, during the first wave of the Covid-19 epidemic, nearly seven in ten deaths were recorded in long-term care centers for the elderly, a world record. These seniors often died alone in their rooms. Not always because of the coronavirus. Some have been swept away by hunger, thirst, and more generally by lack of care, according to several investigative reports made public over the past year. Report in Quebec and Ontario, the two provinces most affected by the phenomenon.
