When you think of couples therapy, you can imagine incompatible partners whose relationship has reached a breaking point. But the reality is that many stable, happy, and healthy couples regularly attend therapy sessions for a variety of reasons.

“Even if you don’t have active arguments, couples therapy can be a great place to assert your connection and build on your strengths,” says Andrea Battiola, owner and psychotherapist of Peak Couples and Sex Therapy. “Couples therapy is actually best for avoiding going into crisis in the first place by helping to lay the groundwork for any storm that will arise.”
