Couple, suspect injured after bloody attack inside Crete residence – NBC Chicago

A couple were seriously injured after being attacked inside their home by a relative, who was also injured in the attack.

According to Will County Sheriff’s Deputies, police responded to a call for shots fired in the 2600 block of Shady Grove Court in unincorporated Crete around 6.41pm.

When deputies arrived, they discovered three people in need of immediate medical attention for various injuries.

A 66-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man were “bleeding profusely” following the attack. Deputies began immediate lifesaving measures and the two were taken to area hospitals. They were later transferred to hospitals in Chicago, where they were listed in critical condition.

Both are expected to survive their injuries, police said.

A gun is believed to have been fired, but it is unclear whether any shots hit the victims. Both were stabbed, police said.

The 36-year-old, who police said was related to the couple by marriage, also suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a Chicago hospital in critical condition.

Authorities believe the incident was domestic in nature and there is no ongoing danger to the public.

Will County deputies are working with other local and state police departments to locate other known family members to ensure their well-being, authorities said.
