During the preview of an interview aired Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told Jake Tapper that “every country in the world” should be prepared for the possibility that Russian President Vladimir Putin can use tactical nuclear weapons in his war against Ukraine.
“The CIA director has warned that he fears Putin will use a tactical nuclear weapon in this fight,” Tapper said. “Are you worried?”
“And not just me, I think all over the world, all countries need to be worried,” Zelensky replied. “Because, you know it’s kind of not real information, but it may be the truth because when they started talking about either battle or involving enemies, or weapons nuclear, or chemical, you know, problems, chemical weapons, they should.
“They could…I mean, they can. For them, the life of the people is nothing,” he added. “That’s why we should reflect, not be afraid. I mean, don’t be afraid, be ready. But that’s not the issue for Ukraine, and not just for Ukraine, for the whole world, I think so.
