Conspiracy to censor Breitbart News

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said on Friday’s edition of SiriusXM Breitbart Daily News with host Alex Marlow that the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA), if enacted, would create a “cartel” between “big government, big tech and big media” to censor and suppress the news media such as Breitbart News.

“Big media is going to team up with Big Tech, and they’re going to come after conservative media comes out with the truth, like you guys do,” Jordan said. “It’s really basic.”

JCPA supporters describe the bill as a move to increase the financial viability of local and smaller news outlets amid declining revenues in the journalism industry due to modern digital media sharing. information.

Jordan said the JCPA would give left-leaning news media and big tech companies the power to determine the parameters of entry into what the bill defines as a “joint trading entity.” These media and technology companies, he added, would conspire to exclude Breitbart News and other dissident media from their ideological and political consensus.

Jordan remarked, “The cartel that forms must define and determine the conditions of entry. Do you think New York Times and the Washington Post and Google are going to want Breitbart to be [included]?”

Jordan linked the JCPA push to a broader government campaign to increase centralization of control and censorship over the flow of information.

“Actually, Lina Khan, who is at the FTC, is going to administer all of this and oversee antitrust,” he continued. “She even said, ‘Oh, Breitbart, they’re spreading misinformation,’ and so that’s all on top of what we’ve seen happen in the run up to the 2020 election, where that wasn’t the FTC at the time, but it was the FBI going to and partnering with Big Tech, where the government partnered with Big Tech to limit information to the people.

The representative from Ohio pointed out the threat the JCPA poses to the values of free speech and expression as set forth in the First Amendment.

He said, “This whole alliance between big government, big tech and big media to keep us the people from getting the facts and the truth is a problem, and I see it in the same vein.”

“This [is a] team up between New York Times and Google to tackle conservative thinking, and they define what “professional information” is – that’s one of the terms – [and will include] the prejudice they have against people like you who come out with the truth and the facts.

Jordan described the JCPA as a reconfigured government attempt to impose the goals of the Biden administration’s failed campaign to establish the Federal Disinformation Governance Council, a proposed bureaucracy marketed as a body to protect public “disinformation.”

“Remember, that’s the same mindset that gave us the whole Disinformation Governance Council, and they were going to try to operate with that,” Jordan concluded. “It’s that concept, in my mind, that they’re trying to form in these cartels.”
