Conor McGregor demands UFC return be against Dustin Poirier or Charles Oliveira, then wants Nate Diaz trilogy

Conor McGregor will only return to the UFC to take on “whoever the fuck” has the lightweight title and he’s also passionate about the Nate Diaz trilogy.

‘The Notorious’ broke his leg at the end of the very first round against Dustin Poirier in July at UFC 264 and has only returned to training for the last few months.

In his absence, Poirier has taken control of the No.1 contender’s spot at 155 pounds and will now face undisputed champion Charles Oliveira on December 11 at UFC 269.

“The Diamond” had previously knocked out McGregor at UFC 257 in January on Fight Island, having beaten a plethora of dangerous contenders to earn his shot.

Likewise, defending champion Oliveira had to wait 28 fights before realizing his potential as he stopped Michael Chandler at UFC 262 in May in an exciting contest.

Still, McGregor is adamant he will make an instant return to the Octagon to take on the winner of the fight and, once this case is over, will target a third fight with former nemesis Nate Diaz.

Responding to ESPN reporter Marc Radimondi on Twitter, the Irishman wrote: “Hi guys, there you go… clicks and the like. Your boss and what more. Mac. Santa.

“I face whoever f *** has that LW title then.” Do with it.

“Take off your glasses and mark the trilogy as ‘unfinished’. Treat that too. The rest mentioned, after that.

“Agreement. With. This.”

Diaz has one fight remaining on his current UFC contract and a lucrative third fight with McGregor would surely represent the best financial option available for the 36-year-old.

McGregor, who turns 34 in July 2022, is certainly hoping for more activity inside the Octagon regardless of his decision, having fought five times in the past five years – losing three.
