Connor Goldson gives brutally honest interview, admits Rangers stars ‘not hungry’ as Giovanni van Bronckhorst watches semi-final loss

Rangers defender Connor Goldson has slammed his teammates after their Premier Sports Cup loss to new boss Giovanni Van Bronckhorst.

Scott Arfield’s strike was not enough for the Glasgowians at Hampden Park as a Martin Boyle first-half hat-trick gave Hibernian the win, meaning the Rangers miss a final against fierce rivals Celtic.

Ibrox’s side may be at the top of the Scottish Premiership, but they have been in mixed form.

The loss of former manager Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa has not helped matters.

And Goldson, who has played for the club since 2018, did not hesitate to explain why his team lost under the gaze of Van Bronckhorst.

“We need something to change,” said the 28-year-old, “I don’t mean that, but we’ve lost our hunger a bit.

“We’re champions and some think they don’t have to work that hard. It is creeping in all seasons.

“As a team, we are not performing at the moment. No player can hold their head up high.

But a frustrated Goldson didn’t blame the loss of the Rangers Cup on Gerrard’s departure or interim boss David McCallum, instead, blaming the players more.
