Portland State football coach Bruce Barnum is bribing fans to attend the team’s home opener.
During an appearance on a local podcast, the 57-year-old coach offered to buy a beer for anyone who showed up to watch the Vikings play in western Oregon on Saturday.
The Oregon and Oregon State No.3s will host clashes in Week 3, which will make it harder for FCS Portland State to draw a crowd. In an effort to attract more locals and beer snobs, Barnum expanded the offering on the John Canzano BFT podcast.

“I have to get people to see my kids,” Barnum told Canzano on the podcast. “I have a deal for you: everyone who heard me on your show … just say ‘I heard Barney on the BFT’ at Barney Beer Garden and I’ll buy you a beer.”

To sweeten the deal, the coach did not set a limit on the amount of beers he would buy. When asked how many drinks he would cover, Barnum simply replied, “All”.

Portland State is scheduled to play at 2:05 p.m. PT on Saturday. The in-state battle between the Vikings and Wolves will take place at Hillsboro Stadium, where ticket prices range from $ 3.50 to $ 25. The stadium can accommodate 7,200 people.
Depending on how many thirsty fans show up at the game, Barnum’s tab bar has the potential to fly extremely high.
