Cody Gakpo tipped to switch £42m Gunners despite interest from Bayern

Arsenal target Cody Gakpo has been advised to seriously consider a move to the Emirates Stadium – despite rival interest from Bayern Munich.

Reports suggest a £42million move is on the horizon for the PSV Eindhoven striker, who has racked up 16 goals and 15 assists this season. Barcelona and Liverpool are also said to be keen.

But ex-PSV player and Eredivisie veteran turned pundit Kenneth Perez thinks Arsenal would be an ideal destination.

The ex-winger said on ESPN: “[Arsenal] would be a very good club for him. They are of course no longer the Arsenal of the past – they are between fifth and tenth place.

“They’re still not there, but you just can’t look at the league standings. Last year they finished tenth. If they have a good year, they will finish fourth.

Arsenal are believed to be in the hunt for a striker this summer and Gakpo has been told by PSV legend Willy van de Kerkhof that he has outgrown his current club.

The European Cup winner told Voetbal Primeur: “Gakpo has reached the ceiling at PSV.

“I think Gakpo can certainly succeed in England, but I also find Bayern a good club for him. He thinks so too, I think.

“[His price] is very simple: 50 million euros. It is really worth it. »
