During a segment on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” on Sunday, host Brian Stelter discussed Hunter Biden under federal investigation with his guest Michael LaRosa, the former press secretary for First Lady Jill Biden.
The conversation was sparked when Stelter quoted a New York Times column by Maureen Dowd urging the president not to run for office. He then referred to the Justice Department investigating Hunter’s alleged tax violations and business dealings.
” And his son ? Stelter asked. “And Hunter? Hunter under federal investigation, charges can be brought at any time, it’s not just a right-wing media story. It’s a real problem for the Bidens.”

“Could he decide not to run for office given his son?” Stelter asked.
“Look, they make decisions as a family and they will make that decision when the time comes,” LaRosa replied.
“Do you think they’ve already talked about it?” Stelter asked.
“No. The president is doing his job, he’s doing his job. He’s not focusing on that,” LaRosa replied.

Stelter asked if “the press is getting ahead of the family on this.”
“Well ahead, well ahead,” LaRosa replied, before reiterating that the president “intends to show up” and urging the press to focus on his “substantial wins” from the past week.
As the 2020 election nears, the Hunter Biden laptop story has been falsely declared Russian disinformation by dozens of former intelligence officials. Twitter, Facebook and other platforms took down the story, blocking people from sharing the link to the New York Post article on the subject.
