‘Close your eyes’ – Specsavers troll Everton as Frank Lampard’s side suffer heavy home loss to Brighton and fall further in Premier League table

Everton fans headed out to Goodison Park after watching Brighton win 4-1 on Tuesday night.

Among the inevitable jokes from rivals, Specsavers also joined in the teasing, with the opticians tweeting: “Tip for Everton fans: close your eyes.”

As well as being a blow to morale, the result leaves Frank Lampard’s side just one point above the relegation zone and talkSPORT understands the manager is on the verge of being sacked.

Kaoru Mitoma put Robert De Zerbi’s side ahead after just 14 minutes, his fourth goal in six appearances for the Seagulls.

Next on the scoresheet was a man with an incredibly bright future ahead of him, Evan Ferguson.

Making his full debut for Brighton, the striker hit the post early before grabbing a goal and an assist to send his side on their way to victory.

At 18 years and 76 days, the striker is the youngest player to score in consecutive Premier League appearances since former Manchester United starlet Federico Macheda in 2009.
