Climate change is harming the economy, according to a famous 2012 paper by economists. Melissa Dell, Benjamin Jones And Benjamin Olken. This article is in the top 1% of all academic publications in economics in terms of number of citations, and it has received glowing media coverage. The authors teach at Harvard, Northwestern, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, respectively, and have received some of the profession’s highest awards. I took a closer look at their study, and it doesn’t hold up.
